Vanderbilt manhandles Mississippi Valley State

Myles Stute scored 20 points and Scotty Pippen Jr. added 12 to help Vanderbilt blow out visiting Mississippi Valley State 75-36 in a nonconference game on Monday night in Nashville, Tenn.Stute had six rebounds and hit 6 of 10 from 3-point range for Commodores (5-1), who never trailed while earning a third straight victory.Robert Carpenter sank just 2 of 21 shots, including 2 of 14 from behind the 3-point arc, but still managed to score a team-high 11 points for the Delta Devils (0-4). He grabbed a team-best eight rebounds, too.Mississippi Valley State shot 20 percent (11 of 55) overall and 5 of 28 (17.9 percent) from long range.Stute sank three 3-pointers during the first 3:51 of the second half to fuel a 9-0 spurt that gave Vanderbilt a 35-17 cushion.Pippen added seven points as the Commodores opened the second half with a 21-1 run that built a 47-18 advantage with 12:16 to go.The Delta Devils never got closer than 26 points after that.Vanderbilt led by as many as 11 points en route to a 26-17 halftime lead.
