Texans sign QB McCown, 41, off Eagles’ practice squad

Quarterback Josh McCown is joining his 12th NFL team, jumping from the Philadelphia Eagles’ practice squad to the Houston Texans’ active roster on Wednesday.McCown’s agent, Mike McCartney, announced the deal on Twitter.McCown, 41, is 16 years older than Texans starting quarterback Deshaun Watson, who was only 7 years old when McCown threw his first NFL pass in 2002.McCown recently played for the Eagles in January, when he replaced injured Carson Wentz and completed 18 of 24 passes for 174 yards in a 17-9 NFC wild-card loss to the Seattle Seahawks.McCown owns a 23-53 record as a starter, completing 60.2 percent of his passes for 17,731 yards and 98 touchdowns, with 82 interceptions, in 102 games.McCown has appeared in NFL games with the Arizona Cardinals (2002-05), Detroit Lions (2006), Oakland Raiders (2007), Carolina Panthers (2008-09), Chicago Bears (2011-13), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2014), Cleveland Browns (2015-16), New York Jets (2017-18) and Eagles (2019). He also spent time on the practice squads of the Miami Dolphins (2008) and San Francisco 49ers (2011).
