TCU cruises past Austin Peay in nonconference play

Eddie Lampkin posted a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds to power TCU past visiting Austin Peay 68-51 in a nonconference game on Monday in Fort Worth, Texas.Mike Miles had 12 points and three assists and Emanuel Miller added eight points and five rebounds for TCU (5-1), which outrebounded the Governors 51-30 and outscored them 38-18 in the paint.TCU, which also received six points and eight rebounds from Micah Peavy, shot 39.7 percent (27 of 68) from the field, including 23.8 percent (5 of 21) from 3-point range, and led by as many as 23 in the second half.Austin Peay (3-3) was led by Caleb Stone-Carrawell’s 14 points, with Tariq Silver adding 11 points and five assists.The Governors shot 35.8 percent (19 of 53) from the field and struggled from 3-point range by making just seven of their 28 attempts (25 percent). Their inability to rebound consistently, especially defensively, led to the Horned Frogs scoring 25 second-chance points.Leading 34-26 at halftime, the Horned Frogs put the game away by opening the second half on a 15-4 run capped by Miles’ 3-pointer to give TCU a 49-30 lead with 14:50 left in the game.After Austin Peay’s Stone-Carrawell slammed home the game’s first basket, the Horned Frogs scored the next eight points and never looked back.
