Four-time All-Star OF Pence retires after 14 seasons

Four-time All-Star outfielder Hunter Pence announced his retirement Saturday after 14 seasons.Pence, 37, registered 1,791 hits, 244 homers and 942 RBIs in 1,707 games with the Houston Astros (2007-11), Philadelphia Phillies (2011-12), San Francisco Giants (2012-18, 2020) and Texas Rangers (2019).He won two World Series with the Giants (2012, 2014), who released him on Aug. 24.”Nothing can really prepare you for this part of your career when you have to say: I am retiring from baseball,” Pence wrote Saturday on Twitter. “Forever thankful and Gr8ful.”Pence had just five hits in 52 at-bats (.096) in 17 games this season with San Francisco. He had two homers and six RBIs.
