Reports: Rangers bring Chavez back on 2-year deal

The Texas Rangers are bringing back right-hander Jesse Chavez on a two-year contract, multiple outlets reported Tuesday. This time, however, it’ll cost them a little more.According to the reports, the deal will be worth about $8 million total. Last offseason, the Rangers signed Chavez to a one-year deal worth $1 million. The 35-year-old outperformed his contract with 95 1/3 innings pitched, second among all relievers, with a 2.55 ERA and five saves in 26 appearances. He pitched so well, the Chicago Cubs liked what they saw and traded for Chavez in July, sending minor league pitcher Tyler Thomas to Texas.
