Reports: Cavs add former top recruit Preston for summer league

Former five-star Kansas recruit Billy Preston has agreed to join the Cleveland Cavaliers’ summer league roster, according to multiple reports Saturday.Preston, who went undrafted Thursday, was a top recruit and McDonald’s All-American in 2017. He never took the court for the Jayhawks, though, as an on-campus car accident in November triggered an NCAA investigation into whether his eligibility was compromised over the car’s financing.Kansas head coach Bill Self announced Preston would sit until the investigation was completed. Self sounded optimistic in December that Preston would be cleared, but no action came from the NCAA.As a result, Preston agreed to a contract with a professional basketball team in Bosnia in January. Preston played three games with the team, BC Igokea, before returning home because of an injury.
